Russia’s ‘Father of All Bombs’

In light of the United States dropping of the MOAB, mother of all bombs, in Afghanistan, let’s take a look at Russia’s analogous weapon. Russia’s version of MOAB is the Father of All Bombs. According to experts, the Father of All Bombs is four times more explosive than MOAB. While the Father of All Bombs is not a nuclear weapon, FOAB’s non-nuclear designation allows it to be applied more liberally. Russia has the potential to deploy the Father of all Bombs without fear of nuclear fallout or International hysteria. Perhaps bombs in the same vein as MOAB and FOAB will become the new norm. After all, what military doesn’t like massive explosions. Visit Sponsors of SHTFBlog.com

Surviving an active shooter event

Gun Cleaning 101 – Clean Your Guns the Right Way

by Frank Did you know that every time you fire your gun, a small amount of carbon, copper, lead and plastic residue is left in the chamber and barrel? If you don’t take the time to clean your gun after firing it, this residue (known as fouling) can build up over time and eventually have a devastating effect on your gun and effect its reliability. There aren’t any rules for when to clean your gun. Each gun is different and each type of ammunition is different as well, making it impossible to make standard gun cleaning rules. However, over the years I’ve picked up a few tips from hunters, gunsmiths, retired law enforcement and military. Gun Cleaning Kits and Solvents Before you can begin cleaning your…

Stacy Lyn Harris’ new book HARVEST

My mouth has been watering for Stacy’s new book ever since she told me she was writing it a few months ago.  HARVEST is finally out and I think it’s her best title yet.  With a freezer packed with wild meats from this year’s hunting season, HARVEST couldn’t have been released at a better time of year. Harvest has heart. The very nature of the book is coordinated around food that has families working together in order to bring them together. For Stacy Lyn, food is much more than sustenance, it is the medium through which familial ties are strengthened. The time and effort Stacy Lyn has put into cultivating and crafting recipes…

Limits to Complexity

Yes, there are. True, many of the world’s problems can be addressed – for a while – by adding layers of complexity. ; No question. Wound Debridement in Survival

Wound Debridement in Remote Settings Maggot debridement of open wound Injuries in remote settings like a wilderness trail or survival homestead pose challenges to the medic not experienced in long-term wound care. Ordinarily, a system exists to evacuate victims of such injuries to modern medical facilities. In situations where that option doesn’t exist for the foreseeable future, however, the average person may be medically responsible from the point of injury to full recovery. This is a novel (and sobering) thought for most, and the tools needed to provide regular wound care and the medications to prevent and treat infection may not be at hand. For this reason, I have spent …

The End Of The Cycle: “The Government Will Gladly Enter A War To Cleanse The Balance Sheet And Cull The Herd”

In the days following the 241st anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the country is in an even more precarious position than it was in 1776.  We face a situation of a fiat currency about to collapse as the consumer-based economy follows.  Whether orchestrated by our imperialistic government or following actions of a hostile foreign nation (prompted or unprompted) the government will gladly enter a war to “cleanse” the balance sheet and cull the herd.  Concurrently, the country is deeply divided domestically along lines of racial unrest. The country also faces a threat to its existence in the face of Muslim extremists who are fostered by the traitorous socialist-Marxists in our government who enabled their …

Flares and Emergency SignalsFlares and emergency signals are key to getting noticed by other boats and search planes if your vessel becomes disabled on the water. Top 5 Best Pistols for SHTF

by Eric Ahhh, guns, my favorite subject. What are the top 5 pistols, or should we say handguns, for a SHTF event? Well, that would depend on a few factors. One would be the users experience with handguns. Another would be whether it is intended to cover all your needs or solely intended as a sidearm. Finally, your location would be a deciding factor. If you live in an area that has large, dangerous animals then you need a larger caliber handgun. However, before I go recommending anything, the first thing I will recommend is that if you have no experience handling firearms, you need to go and get professional training. …

Video: Dental Abscesses

dental abscess In this companion video to a recent article, Joe Alton, MD, aka Dr. Bones, discusses the importance of dental preparedness in long-term survival settings. Perhaps you don’t need a dental kit when the power’s out for a few days, but when you’re stuck in primitive conditions and not likely to get out anytime soon, dental supplies are an important part of being an effective medic. Let’s face it, pain in your mouth can make you miserable, so miserable that your work efficiency suffers as much as you do. One cause of dental discomfort may be a tooth abscess, which is a serious issue that can turn life-threatening. But what if there is no dentist? Learn what a…

He is also a long-time advocate of gold and silver as a way to protect wealth during times of financial calamity. 4 Types of Security Doors Every Prepper Should Be Aware Of

Your home is only as strong as its doors and windows. Many intruders are able to gain access to a space simply by kicking in the door. Smoke, wind and fire could also easily get through a weak door. When you are prepping your home for a natural or man-made disaster, consider these four types of security doors. Vault DoorsIf you have created a safe room in your house, you might consider fitting it with vault doors. These doors allow you to enter the code to get into the safe room. Once inside, you quickly and easily lock the vault. No intruder would be able to break into the vault. A…

Top 5 Best SIG Sauer Pistols

With the news that the United States military will officially adopt the SIG Sauer P320 pistol to replace the Beretta M9 that has served since the 1980s, it would seem like an appropriate time to discuss SIGs in general. The manufacturer, SIG Sauer, is regarded as being a premium brand on the firearms market.  Their products tend to be much more expensive than the counterparts released from other companies. In fact, it was only because SIG Sauer’s P226 was slightly higher priced than the Beretta 92FS that it was not chosen during the Army trials in the 80s. So yes, you will pay more for a SIG Sauer …

June 24th the birthday of rifle-toting abolitionist pastor Henry Ward Beecher. (Born 1813, died March 8, 1887.)
