Rally Points

Rally PointsThe other day I was watching Fear the Walking Dead. That show did not particularly grip me but I was bored so I watched a few episodes. Of course after various bad things the characters kept getting scattered and not having a good plan. This brings us to Rally Points. From FM 7-8 3-5. RALLY POINTSThe leader considers the use and locations of rally points. A rally point is a place designated by the leader where the platoon moves to reassemble and reorganize if it becomes dispersed. a. Selection of Rally Points. The leader physically reconnoiters routes to select rally points whenever possible. He…

Here I am….

Hmmm, I really thought I’d written something here since October, but apparently I haven’t, shame on me 🙂 So here I am, back again, let me tell you what has been going on since Oct., that job I was working and LOVED, well it has fizzled, turns out there isn’t enough work for 2 people in this area, although the 2 of us seemed to be doing just fine, apparently the boss’ boss doesn’t agree. I am

The USS Liberty Five Decades Later

Many years ago, I was discussing the six-day war with a young Jewish college student, and he remarked:I wish the war had lasted longer so we could have killed more Arabs. How do you like that ‘we’? Clearly, he identified with Israelis considerably more than with Americans, and that seems to be the case with far too many American Jews. Somehow, I don’t think he ever got around to joining the US Armed Forces to help out in Vietnam. He would probably have been self-righteously opposed to that war.Chances are good that even if you’ve been reading this blog…

Meet Gladys

She’s burgundy, discrete, low cost and can take you wherever you want to go in comfort, well as long as you are named Dylan Magaster 🙂 The nice thing about living in a converted van is they are discrete, you don’t necessarily LOOK like you are camping out or living in your van, you can drive it nearly anywhere, you can park it without drawing unnecessary attention. I like all the wood features inside this van, it is setup to cook, including a refrigerator – which is actually a converted freezer! Of course, being a female, I would want a toilet, Dylan speaks about not having issues using public toilets, I personally prefer using my own equipment, but that’s …

When The World Is Led By A Partisan, Dysfunctional Media

If you keep hating Trump for the wrong reasons you’re going to get something even worse…This week the New York Times published an Op Ed by David Brooks entitled, “When the World Is Led by a Child.”In it the NYTs columnist begins by saying that President Donald Trump is not a budding authoritarian and rabble-rousing populist, neither a corrupt Nixon-type politician, nor a big business corporatist. Instead, Brooks claims, one can tell by the way Trump answers questions in long interviews that he’s basically just a big baby. (Brooks used the term “infantalist,” by which he meant “a big …

Not Dead, Been Shooting

Hey folks, I know it’s been awhile. Work, getting ready for my kids to come out this summer and shooting have kept me pretty busy.I got to go out to a sweet private range and do some cool stuff you can’t usually do.Also shot my first handgun match. It was fun and I will definitely take up that hobby. On the good side my balance in shooting of speed and accuracy seems to be on point. Down side if I care about being competitive (vs defensive practice) I’m moving pretty slow. I’ll work on it.Learned some stuff about my gear and had a ton of fun.

Jake Brewer, RIP

My Townhall Media colleague Mary Katharine Ham is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.  She was fortunate enough to meet her match  in a wonderful young man, Jake Brewer. They were wed in 2011. MK and Jake have an adorable daughter, and another child on the way. Jake was tragically lost yesterday as he …

Does Trump Really "Get It" In The Middle East?

First, my take on the MIddle East and Jews in general:There is a tacit alliance between Israel in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states and other Arab/Muslim countries. This alliance opposes the Iranians and Assad of Syria quite forcefully and is adamant about it, which is why you hear so much anti-Iran rhetoric from our lickspittle politicians. This is also related to domestic Jewish overwhelming support for just about any kind of behavior from the Israeli governments. I hasten to add that many Christian groups and American politicians also demonstrate such support.Jews in America tend to be overrepresented among the left, all the way from the classical marxists to the…

What is? What if?

I watched a man die at one of the stores where I work doing merchandising. He just fell over and died right there about 15 feet away from me. I didn’t go over, there were already several people gathered around, 2 people were performing CPR on him, the store had already called 911. I stood back and prayed silently as I continued to work. I watched the paramedics work on him and take him away. I saw one of the paramedics in another store later in the day and asked about the man, she told me what I already suspected, he didn’t make it. As you can imagine, that weighed heavily on my mind the rest of the day. I have now…

Organization

so I am trying to organize some stuff in the basement. About 1.5-2 cubic yards of stuff. Mostly preparedness related clothing, sleeping bags, backpacks and such. My goal is something economical and modular. Totes seem like the obvious answer but old school green Army duffel bags would let me push more stuff in and if I don’t need one I could just fold it up. It occurred to me that some of you all have dealt with this type of issues before. So I figured I would see what kind of stuff has worked well for you.How do you store stuff?

Allons, Enfants!

If you were French, would you vote for a branleur who says vapid, politically correct drivel like this? I should hope not, especially if you have Marine Le Pen to vote for instead. As I have said over and over one way or another on this blog, the intrinsic value of Islamic culture isn’t the issue — it’s the compatibility of that culture with the culture of the West (of which French culture is one component), and that compatibility just isn’t there. Insofar as culture in France is diverse, it’s self-destructive and useless in practice. So when Macron hastens to remind us that diverse is good, he’s demonstrating his willingness to let Algerian or…

What are your super skills?

How do you get what you need and want if you have little or no money to buy? I assume you have some sort of skills, something you know how to do and can do it pretty well… there must be something you can do, maybe it’s a job you do or have done in the past (or present), maybe it’s a hobby you enjoy, maybe it’s a talent you have, whatever it is, you can offer that skill in trade for something you need or want. This is called “Bartering”, it’s an age old …

Truck garden

Growing up I had heard of truck farms, usually small family farms, when the produce is ready, the farmer takes the produce to a farmer’s market in a truck, thus the name “truck farm”… but this is a different concept, this is actually a garden that is contained in a box truck! This truck came to Nick Runkle and Justin Cutter in a roundabout way, large windows had been placed in the box part of the truck when it had been a mobile art gallery in its former life. The windows made it a perfect greenhouse, which is exactly what it became. Getting their funding from a Kickstarter …

RON PAUL UNLEASHED: Former Candidate SAVAGES Trump and Congress on One Issue after Another

Dr. Ron Paul, who served 12 terms in the US Congress and became famous when he ran on a libertarian platform for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, has been on a rampage this Spring, excoriating both President Trump and the Republican-held Congress on one issue after another.Carol Paul must be putting something in her husband’s coffee, because the libertarian firebrand (who turns 82 this year) spent the month of April challenging the political establishment with the kind of gusto and pointed criticisms that gained him a devoted global following when he ran for president in 2008 and set two records for the most online donations in a single day to a political candidate in US history.Let The Shutdown Happen. Forever. On the …

Reader Question: Bug Out Realities

Harry Flashman said “If you have to flee, where (in general theory) would you go? I’m not asking specifically, just your thoughts. If I had to abandon my compound I’d be screwed. The only place I can think to go in the event of some major Black Swan event would be deeper into the Appalachian mountains, where I would surely starve when winter came. Remember the old guy in “The Road” played by Robert Duvall? I don’t want to end up like that.”Ryan here: Harry, There is a disconnect between what I am thinking about and preparing for in this context and what you are thinking about. You are focused on a black swan type event sort of…
