This is an out-of-the-box review. If something changes in the near future I’ll be sure to update.

    1) Yes, the tight beam is square (flood light is round.) This is because the light SOURCE is square and at it’s brightest you’re perfectly focusing the light source. Every high intensity LED light I’ve owned had a square beam when tightly focused.

    2) I have seen varying reviews on the lumen output. Though I don’t have a meter to measure it I can say that I turned on my Rayz 1000 lumen flashlight and this one side by side at tight focus and this one was considerably brighter than the Rayz. Even if it was only AS bright as the 1000 lumen Rayz I would still esteem it more highly since the Rayz is size equivalent to a 3 or 4 C flashlight (hardly something you can keep handy on your belt.)

    3) The body has a nice texture to it so I don’t feel like it’ll slip. The zoom head offers very little resistance. I would almost call it “loose” but shaking the flashlight forward and backward doesn’t make the focus slip. Tapping it will but other than that the focus holds. Also, the flashlight is small enough that you can easily hold the body and the head at the same time if you think the focus is going to slip.

It’s light weight but doesn’t feel cheap to me, the beam is very bright, the holster seems okay but I have only holstered/unholstered the light a dozen times. All in all I’m quite pleased. I’ll be sure to check back in IF that changes.

Quick edit to add some technical information. I decided to do a search on the LED that is used in this flashlight (The Cree XLamp XM-L2). According to the data sheet: 1) The output of this LED is “an unprecedented 1198 lumens at 116 lumens-per-watt efficacy at 3 A, 25°C.” So it looks like it’s a 1200 Lumen LED. You MIGHT (and it’s a big might) be able to register more lumens if you measure at the focal point of the lens since the LED has a 125 degree viewing angle. If you could focus the entire output and measure at the focal point you’ll get a higher lumen reading. 2) “Typical Forward Voltage 2.85 V @ 700 mA” If I’m understanding that correctly then you’ll get a maximum of about 3.5 hours run time off of the 18650 battery that comes with it. Those generally boast about 2500 mAh capacity and if you divide that by 700 mA you get 3.57 hours. Of course it won’t be full bright the whole time but LEDs tend to have a “pretty good” output even as the battery nears end-of-life. I would expect (based on my entirely unscientific experience with high output LED flashlights) that you’ll have about 2 hours of maximum output, 45 minutes of usable but noticeably dimmer light and then you’ll want to charge.

I don’t think the 2000 lumens are accurate, I held this on the same point as a 1800 lumen tac light, and this was got out-shone. BUT.. it’s great for a nice little light that clips easily to your go bag or gear.

I cant really comment because the flash light didn’t work.I don’t know much, except that I was very disappointed I really went for the amount of lumins and the ability to recharge provided battery. Better luck to you
