This review is from: The Soapmaker’s Companion: A Comprehensive Guide with Recipes, Techniques & Know-How (Natural Body Series – The Natural Way to Enhance Your Life) (Paperback)
I tried many of the recipes in this book and all of them work quite well. I’ve been using the soap I made for about a year now and all of them have held up and performed beautifully. Everything written in the book is clear and helpful, no muss or fuss. This is a great book to learn the basics and make some quality soap.

My one complaint is that all of the soaps are not very fragrant – next time I will likely double the amount of called for fragrance in the recipes.

This is a very good book, well written with a lot of useful information. There is also a lot of information for those who want more technical details on the chemistry of soap making. However, all the charts that are included, which are very useful for reference, cannot be read in the Kindle format. The fonts are tiny and faded and it is extremely difficult to read them, even with a magnifying glass. Had I known I would have ordered the paper version. It was disappointing really.

This book is a really must have for all the ones who want to embrace the soapmaking world: it’s filled with useful information, insights, and lots of recipes. The author really did great.

KINDLE ALERT: if you’re interested in purchasing this book, I’d suggest to go for the paperback edition since the kindle one is very poor: the book contains many charts there were clearly not optimized for a vision on the kindle, they’re impossible to read even zooming in the screen, and that’s a bit discouraging.
