I decided to spend a bit more to get the Mil Spec edition and so far, I have no regrets. The quick release ports have not leaked on me in the past, several hikes/backpacking trips (even in a crowded backpack, Osprey Atmos 65), and the tube sleeve does a great job of keeping the water in the line cool. The mouthpiece cap should be on every Camelbak, but since it came default with this edition, it is a definitely bonus. For cleaning post-hikes, I flush it with 1L of water with 1 cap of Listerine. Drying can be tricky since there is an interior piece that keeps the pack in its compact shape (limits how much the pack can open up), but I’ve found using a pair of kitchen tongs to prop the pack open, while resting inverted on a chair has done the trick nicely.

Good bladder. What’s different about this bladder from my previous Camelbaks are a couple things.

    1) If the bladder is full and you disconnect the hose, you won’t leak water everywhere. It’s convenient, but one time the hose disconnected in my pack while hiking. I thought I was out of water, but nope. The water that was already in the hose leaked out, but the bladder water stayed put.

    2) You only have to screw the lid from like 10 o’clock to 12 o’clock as opposed to spinning it around 3-5 times. Again, it’s just a convenience thing. I was a bit worried it would open on accident for some reason, but so far so good.

    3) There’s an anti-sloshing.. thing. See that vertical line on the bladder in the picture? The bladder is connected there on the inside to prevent the water from sloshing around too much. It’s fine, but now you won’t be able to stick your whole arm in the bladder if you want to clean at the bottom or something.

Attached the same pics I used for the cleaning kit (not included in this buy)

Not the full Antidote Bladder, August 17, 2016

First things first – tremendous fan of Camelbaks. Have used multiple iterations of their products as a long distance trail runner, ultralight hiker, and athlete for at least 7 years. Bottom line this IS an antidote bladder but it is NOT all the Antidote is supposed to be.

Let me explain. No, there is too much. Lemme sum up. The blue bladder is the civilian version. 100 oz / 3 L long antidote. The black is this product. You’ll see it’s missing one factor that is the reason I love my old bladder; Drying Arms!

Secretly positioned along the rim of the mouth a real Antidote bladder will have arms that swivel out to allow for drying on the trail. Despite having the slots for it this mil spec version doesn’t have them.

If I’m on trail and my last full required 2 iodine tablets I want to be able to completely exhaust the bladder, dry it out, and refill easily. Now I have to Jerry Rig some sort of suspension system. I know this is nittpicky as hell but it’s like upgrading to a car with auto climate control, then buying the same model in a diff color and going back to normal AC. Not a deal breaker but definitely not what I THOUGHT I was buying. Still came on time and in original packaging though. 3 stars.

TL/DR; does NOT include swivel arms for drying that are standard on all other Antidote bladders.
