SABRE Wedge Door Stop Security Alarm with 120 dB Siren – Great for Home, Travel, Apartment or Dorm

A burglary occurs every 14.5 seconds in the U.S., and budget cuts have led to an average 911 response time of 10 minutes. Furthermore, without the ability to install a home security system, renters and travelers can have a hard time feeling secure in their temporary housing.

SABRE’s Door Stop Alarm is a great solution to either help fortify an existing home alarm system or use on its own in a bedroom, dorm, hotel room or apartment. The extremely 120 dB loud alarm is audible up to 1

Purchased one each of GE Personal Security Alarm and SABRE Door Stop Alarm for comparison test.
The SABRE and GE are very comparable in cost, size, and weight, but the SABRE’s features far surpass the GE’s.
The SABRE’s alarm can be heard throughout our 3,800 sq. foot home and is MUCH, MUCH LOUDER than the GE’s.
GE’s alarm stops as soon as the door pressure against it is released, while the SABRE’s alarm only stops after the ON/OFF switch on the back of the unit is turned off. Based on my 26 years of experience as a police officer I feel confident in assuring you that the SABRE is far and away the best choice for a very inexpensive, simple to use, and highly efficient door alarm system.
I believe the GE Personal Security Door Stop Alarm will disappoint, but the SABRE Door Stop Alarm will exceed your highest expectations!

Customer Video Review Length:: 3:18 Mins

I needed this because I often leave need to leave my door open so air can flow in and out my apartment window while am cooking or roasting. My loft apartment has no ventilation other than the rear window and the front door, and they are at opposite ends of the unit (60′ apart). The problem is both must be open for air to flow, and to do so runs the risk of someone entering the unit without me in constant guard.

Being able to leave the door ajar while ensuring it doesn’t open any further is a necessary measure of security, and the fact that the door stop is armed with an alarm is great. I can be at the far end of the unit working in my shop and be able to hear if someone tries to enter.

Anyway, enough about me, watch the video 🙂 I hope it helps you make right purchase decision.

It’s simple, it’s effective, but proper functioning depends on your floor surface.

For those who don’t want to read thru the end….Conclusion:
This is a great and simple solution to keep people from entering your home, while you are at home.
But you have to buy additionally a 9V block battery, need a micro screw driver to place the battery and you have to buy a simple fastener solution (see below) for slippery floor surfaces (e.g. wooden floors, stone or tiles)

    Delivery:
I bought it on Amazon. Delivery was this time one day late.

    Opening:
The packaging of the Alarm is tricky to open. Its completely blistered. This is not very Eco-friendly and you need strong household scissors to open it.

    Content:
Just the Alarm, A short 1/4 page instruction.
NO battery included. you need to buy a 9V block battery separately.

    Installation / Functioning:
First you need to buy extra a 9V battery… if you realize this only after the packaging arrived, this might be quite bothersome as many households will have AAA or AA batteries always at home but not 9V block batteries.
The installation of the battery requires a micro screw drive. A normal screw driver will not get you far as you wil just damage the screw head. Battery once installed you should be good to go.
The alarm is loud and it works very effective.
But I have a wooden floor and the device always slid away when opening the door.
The rubbers on the bottom would hold strong enough to the ground.
So I bought this Scotch Reclosable Fasteners, Clear, 1 x 3-Inches, 2 Sets (RF9730) to hold it strong to the ground and the door cannot slide it away.

    ==> this works perfectly.

    1) The door is completely and very tight blocked! This keeps intruders from entering your home AND
    2) you can remove the alarm easily while this scotch fastener consist of two parts. One sticks to the floor and the other to the alarm and you can peel the device off any time easily from the floor.
    2) The alarm goes safely off if the door opens and cannot be switch off by the intruder – given you have placed the alarm fixed to the ground with the fastener close enough to the door.

    Final rating:
As the obligatory 9V block battery is missing and additional investment into a fastener solution for slippery surface is needed (depending on your home) i can unfortunately only give 4 stars. Once installed properly it works perfect.

    Open question remaining:
How long will the battery last?
